Garboldisham History Society

Introduction

The Garboldisham History Society explores the history of the village, its people, and broader East Anglian history, through a series of talks and occasional exhibitions featuring our archives of photos and other material, such as old maps and metal detection finds. The Society also hosts a Facebook group for sharing photos, memories, and genealogical research. All are welcome at our meetings, which usually take place in Garboldisham Village Hall at 7.30pm on the third Thursday of the month and cost £4.

You are warmly invited to the next meeting of the Garboldisham History Society - to a talk entitled “The Hijacking of Edith Cavell” by Tony Diamond. Edith Cavell was a British nurse from Swardeston in Norfolk who was executed by a German firing squad in Brussels on 12 October 1915 for helping Allied soldiers escape from occupied Belgium. Tony will be telling us what led to this event and the consequences thereof. We look forward to seeing you at Garboldisham Village Hall, Church Road, Garboldisham.
