FERSFIELD is a parish and village, in the hundred of Diss, 4½ miles west-north-west of Diss; containing, by the last census, 285 souls. The church, dedicated to St. Andrew, is an ancient edifice, with a tower of flint. The living is a rectory, valued in the King’s Book at £6 6s. 8d., in the patronage of the Rev. H. S. Moneykyrle, and incumbency of the Rev. Geo. Darby, M.A., who has a yearly rent of £375 in lieu of tithes, and 60a. 2r. 21p. of glebe. The interior of the church contains marble monuments to Sir Robert and William Du Blois; and a memorial to the Rev. Francis Blomefield, who wrote a history of Norfolk, published in the 17th century. There are 22 acres of church land, let for £20. Area, 1356 acres. The Duke of Norfolk is lord of the manor.
