1911 Census:Botesdale, Suffolk : married, 50, army pensioner and poultry farmer, living alone. (RG14 PN10716 RD210 SD2 ED1 SN95)

Elect. Roll:Between 1913 and 1915 the Electoral Register showed him living at Yewtree in North Lopham, Norfolk - qualification by land and tenement.
Military:Gerald enlisted on 8 May 1883 and joined the King’s Royal Rifles, Private 933. He was posted to the 2nd Company K.R.R. on 1 Dec 1890 and promoted to sergeant. On 10 May 1892 he re-engaged to complete 21 years service. He moved to the 3rd Company on 10 May 1892 and then to the 9th on 6 Nov 1892. He was promoted to Colour Sergeant on 2 Jun 1896. Gerald transferred to the 3rd Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment on 5 Sep 1899. On 8 Aug 1900 he transferred to the 2nd West India Regiment and was Company Sergeant Major. Total service: 20 years 116 days. He was discharged on 31 Aug 1903, being medically unfit for service.
