Military:	George died on 20 November 1917 in France. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission grave registration entry for George was “HAWES, Pte. George Edward, 41941. 1st Bn. Essex Regt. 20th Nov., 1917.” George is commemorated at Cambrai Memorial, Louverval - Panel 7 and 8.
